Douglas County
The Highline Canal begins in Douglas County at the mouth of Waterton Canyon. It follows the western border of Chatfield State Park before passing through the northwest corner of Highlands Ranch.
Please be aware that there is a break in the trail between mile 9.1 and 9.7.
Along the Eastern Border of Chatfield State Park
Highlands Ranch
There are no townhome or condominium communities on this section of the Highline Canal.

City of Littleton
As the Canal moves north into Arapahoe County and the City of Littleton, it passes many attractive neighborhoods: Aberdeen Village, Bar-Ann Acres, Bel-Vue Heights, Broadmoor, Goldenwest Park, Highland Village, Highland Vista, Maple Ridge, Meadowbrook Valley, Mountain Range, Palisade, The Peninsula, Ridgewood, Shadycroft, Southbridge, Southpark, Sunset, Willows at the Highline, Windermere Gardens - just to name a few.

There are only a few townhome and condominium communities along this stretch of the Highline Canal, but these homes are on some of the loveliest sections of the trail. They include: Little's Creek, The Peninsula, The Pinnacle at Highline, Southpark and Sundown Ridge.
City of Centennial
When the Highline Canal crosses Broadway, it enters the City of Centennial, where it turns east and passes both Millikin and DeKoevend Parks. The trail passes by the neighborhoods of Broadway Estates, Cromwell Heights, Dream Home Acres, Sherwood Park, Southglenn, Southwind, and Vista Verde Estates.

After crossing Orchard Road into Greenwood Village, the Highline Canal dips back into Centennial where it passes near the neighborhoods of: Brook Valley, Greenwood South, Heritage Village, The Pines, Ridgeview Hills North and Palos Verdes.
The townhome and condominium communities on this section of the Highline include Broadway Ramparts, Georgetown Village, Hanover Place, Highline Meadows, The Pines, Rembrandt Place, and Village on the Meadows.

Greenwood Village
Some of the most scenic sections of the Highline Canal are found in Greenwood Village. The trail has a rural atmosphere and mountain views as the trail loops around wildlife preserves and beautiful meadows. Neighborhoods along the trail include Bateleur, Cherry Hill Crest, Green Oaks, Greenwood Acres, Greenwood Village, Orchard Creek, Plaza Acres, and The Preserve.

There are some very spacious patio homes in Bateleur, but otherwise within Greenwood Village there are no condominiums or townhomes along the Highline Canal.

Cherry Hills Village
The Highline Canal maintains a rural atmosphere as it passes through Cherry Hills Village. The trails passes by several wildlife preserves, many ponds, and the beautiful grounds of Kent Denver School, before leaving Cherry Hills Village and entering Denver. Neighborhoods along the trail include: Cherry Dale, Cherry Hills East, Cherry Hills North, Cherry Hills Village, Devonshire and Glenmoor.

There are no condominiums or townhomes along the Highline Canal within Cherry Hills Village.

City of Denver
As the Highline Canal enters the City of Denver, its route takes it through Eisenhower Park and through the neighborhoods of Eastgate, Eisenhower Park, Gaiser Holly Hills, Holly Hills, Holly Ridge, University Hills, University Place and Wellshire.

There are many condominium and townhome communities along this stretch of the Highline Canal. They include the: Atrium Condominiums, Jasmine Condominiums, Jefferson Apartment Homes, La Fontana, Plaza de Monaco, Plaza III, and Yale Park.

After the Highline Canal crosses Monaco Parkway, it loops around Bible Park, before zigzagging its way across southeast Denver and looping around the Cherry Creek Country Club. As the trail heads north, it offers many sweeping views of the front range. The single family neighborhoods along this stretch of the Highline include: Bedford Meadows, Cherry Creek Country Club, Crestridge, Gun Club Green, Hampden Heights, Highline Estates, Highline Glen, Highline Villas, Huntington Estates, Hutchinson Hills, Indian Creek, Jewell Circle, Liberty, Mountain View, The Paragon, Point South, Summerfield, Tamarac Park, Wellshire East, and Yorkshire Estates.

They include: Arrowhead, Beaumont Place, Cherry Creek Meadows, Concha, Dayton Green, Emerald Valley, Granville & Granville West, The Greens, Highline Club, Highline Estates, Highline Villas, The Hunt Club, Hunter's Run, Indian Creek, Morningside, The Park, Shadow Wood Condominiums, Springfield, Tamarac Hills, Three Fountains, Topaz at Indian Creek, Villa Marbella, The Willows at Highline, Wind Stream and Woodstream Falls.

After the Highline Canal crosses Florida Avenue, it continues north into Fairmount Cemetary, where it turns east. The single family home neighborhoods along this stretch of the canal include: Alton Park, Camden Park, Hughes Mountain View, Lighthouse at the Breakers, Park Forest, Range View and Skymark.

There are a large number of very attractive condominium and townhome communities on this stretch of the canal. They include two senior living communities - the highrise community of Candlewyck and the golf course community of Windsor Gardens. Other communities on or near the Highline Canal include Fountain Court, Hiland Hills, The Hunt Club, Lighthouse at the Breakers, Pelican Pointe at the Breakers, Villas at Skymark, Wickford Patio Homes, Windsong and Woodside.

City of Aurora
As the Highline Canal enters Aurora, its route takes it along the west border of Exposition Park before moving northeast through a number of mature neighborhoods with affordable homes. The single family neighborhoods along this stretch of the Highline Canal include: Aurora Hills, Havana Villa, Highland Park, Lyn Acres, Nantucket, Park East, Queensborough and Wildwood.

As the Highline Canal continues east and crosses Peoria Street, it moves along the northern edge of the Aurora Hills County Club before crossing under I-225. The neighborhoods along this stretch of the canal include: Country Club Village, Grahams Subdivision, Lyn Knoll, Park View Estates and Park Villa Estates.

After the Highline Canal crosses Sable Street, it passes City Center Park and loops around the DeLaney Farm Historic Park. As the canal turns to the north it passes the Centre Hills Country Club and the Community College of Aurora - Centretech Campus. The only two single family home neighborhoods along this stretch of the canal are Red Willow and Summerhill.
