Parker, Colorado

Parker BoundariesParker was founded in 1864, when a structure known as the 20 Mile House (because it was 20 miles southeast of Denver) was moved to a site on the Cherokee Trail. It provided meals, lodging and provisions for miners and other pioneers who followed this trail into Colorado after the discovery of gold. The town remained a small agricultural community until improved roads began transforming Parker into a popular bedroom community for Denver. Incorporated in 1981, the Town of Parker is one of the fastest growing communities in Colorado, growing 103% between 2000 and 2013, to a current population of more than 48,000.

In 2013, CNN Money Magazine ranked Parker as the 12th Best Place to Live in America. Parker has a host of amenities for its residents, including a 500-seat performing arts center200 acres of developed parkland that includes an equestrian park, 12 miles of paved trails, and more than 700 acres of open space. Parker is served by the Douglas County School District.
